Sharjah gets back to normal, all government employees back at workplaces

The Emirate of Sharjah regains normalcy after months of nationwide lockdown, which was imposed to curb the spread of coronavirus. On Saturday, Dr. Tariq Sultan bin Khadem, Member of the Sharjah Executive Council and Chairman of the Sharjah Human Resources Directorate (SHRD), said that from Sunday, July 19 onwards the city would reopen with 100% of the government employees joining back their workplaces. The authorities understand that the Covid pandemic threat is far from over, hence the government departments and institutions would open as per the guidelinesissued by the Sharjah Executive Council, and based on the circular released by the Directorate.

Bin Khadem stressed that the decision of complete reopening of the economy was taken as per advice of Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohamed Al Qasimi, Ruler of Sharjah. Mohamed Al Qasimi passed a comprehensive plan for the gradual return to normal life in the Emirate of Sharjah, making it mandatory for all to strictly adopt intensified precautionary measures.Bin Khadem also applauded the employees for their spirit and effort of supporting their departments and institutions by working remotely under stressful times and non-congenial conditions.

The Chairman of the Sharjah Human Resources Directorate stressed that the road ahead demanded everyone to be more cautious than before and asked the employees to take all the necessary health precautions, including social distancing rules among employees, using safety covers,complying with safety rules, in order to provide a safe and healthy working environment.He emphasised the new normal demanded everyone’s commitment to adhere to all precautionary measures ensuring public safety, preventing the spread of the deadly contagion.

In addition, Eng. Khalid bin Butti Al Muhairi, Member of the Executive Council and Chairman of the Department of Town Planning and Survey (DTPS) said thatbesides implementing all the preventive measures in its headquarters and branches the Department also former a committee to supervise the implementation of safety measures. Al Muhairi also emphasised that the Department conducted multiple workshops for employees working remotely, to spread awareness about the ways the precautionary measures should be implemented.
