Reckless Behavior Causes New Gaps In Efforts To Contain Covid 19

Reckless people seem to be the most prominent vulnerability in efforts to counter the spread of the COVID-19 virus in many societies, as their irresponsible behavior allowed the virus to pass and spread, infect and kill dozens.

Stories like the Ramadan feast, the truck driver, the Birthday party, and others shocked societies after those reckless people caused the virus to be transmitted to dozens.

In spite of the official warnings, the carelessness of some people has become the greatest threat to efforts to control the virus, and the feasts of Ramadan and Eid gatherings raise real concerns, as they bring together many individuals of different age groups, such as children and the elderly.

Many Arab and Islamic countries are concerned of taking some of the reckless feasts for Eid Al-Fitr and its associated social habits as an excuse to break physical distancing measures imposed by the requirements of the confrontation with the Corona epidemic, with the risks that may result in all their preventive efforts that were exerted in the previous stage. And get her back to square one.

In the UAE, two families of 30 people put the precautions and precautions recommended by the state behind their backs and gathered together on an invitation to dinner, so the result was that they were all infected with the new coronavirus, including a 2-month old baby and a number of elderly people.

In Jordan, after reaching zero-cases for 9 days, the epidemic reappeared due to a truck driver entering the Jordanian border from one of the neighboring countries, and failing to adhere to the quarantine. On the occasion of Ramadan, he set up a breakfast banquet for his family, some of whose members live in other provinces and cities. He later tested positive, and further tests showed he infected more than 30 people.

In Iraq, a family party birthday party attended by 90 people caused the infection to 23 attendees, including the same family who were all taken to hospital.

These irresponsible actions come despite the appeal of most scholars and in the Arab and Islamic world to the public to adhere to the precautionary measures and preventive instructions issued by health authorities to confront the pandemic.

On the legal level, many countries have rushed to enact laws and take legal measures that criminalize complacency and lack of commitment to precautionary measures to combat the spread of the epidemic.
