Last Covid-19 patient discharged from Dubai Trade Centre field hospital

Tuesday witnessed last Covid-19 patient being discharged from Dubai Trade Centre field hospital after he received the necessary treatment and made complete recovery. The last discharged patient is Hiroaki Fujita, a Japanese citizen who was permitted to go home after testing negative for coronavirus.

The temporary field hospital will now be closed. The venue will be used for sporting event, the 10th annual Dubai Sports World which would be held following all the necessary precautionary measures. The field hospital was one of the many temporary hospitals established by the UAE government for tackling Covid-19 infection.

In April, Dubai World Trade Centre was converted into Middle East’s largest hospital as a measure to fight pandemic crisis in the country. The center had 3000 beds, out of which 800 were intensive care beds. This move by the UAE was one of the country’s efforts to increase number of available beds for coronavirus patients.

There has been a rapid decline in number of coronavirus cases being detected in UAE over past few weeks. This has been accompanied with increased number of recoveries which are outpacing the detected cases. This is a clear highlighting indication of country’s efficient healthcare sector.
