India to UAE arrival suspension extended till May 14

India, UAE, passenger flights suspension extension, Covid-19

The passenger air traveling suspension from India to the UAE has been extended. India has recorded a new surge in daily cases with 379,257 new Covid-19 cases on Thursday, a new global record.

In a circular, Emirates Airline conveyed to travel agents that the suspension has been extended and will be in place till May 14. Many travel agents in the UAE have confirmed receiving the circular.

Passengers who have made a transit through India in past 14 days are not allowed to board from any other point to the UAE.

Earlier, all flights from India bound to the UAE were suspended for 10 days, starting from 11.59pm on April 24. Cargo flights, however, are not affected between the two countries.

Excluded from the decision are UAE nationals and diplomatic missions between the two countries, official delegations, businessmen's planes and Golden Visa holders. However, the exempted entities are required to complete a mandatory 10-day quarantine. They are also required to take PCR tests on fourth and eighth days of entry.

India has recorded more than 18.3 million cases, second only to the USA. The health ministry has reported 3,645 deaths in last 24 hours, bringing the total to 204,832. India has crossed previous milestones and set a daily global record in daily new cases of Covid-19 for seven of the past eight days. Seven-day average of Covid-19 cases stands at 350,000 infections. Daily deaths have tripled in the past three weeks. With India’s healthcare structure facing a fallout and rampant dilapidation, many allies have come forward to help.
