Hourly maid services suspended by UAE amid Covid-19

Residents of the UAE would not be allowed now to hire domestic workers on hourly basis or for few days from Tadbeer centers. The short term recruitment of helps was suspended by Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE) as a precautionary step to curb the Covid-19 spread.

Workers from now can only be hired for minimum seven days period. MOHRE also said that they can’t be transferred or replaced during the said period. All the workers before deployment would be required to undergo a PCR test.

Announcement was made earlier that UAE residents can only hire house help from Tadbeer centers starting March. This was a part of complete shutdown of private recruitment agencies for housemaids by government. MOHRE regulates services by Tadbeer centers, which have replaced private recruiting agencies for domestic helpers. The Tadbeer centers were set up by ministry three years ago and now there are 54 centers across UAE.
