Expo 2020 Dubai Suspends Some Activities Amid Covid19 Concerns

Expo 2020 Dubai has temporarily halted some activities as a precautionary measure in view of the latest COVID-19 developments across the UAE. The activities which have been suspended require some form of contact among participants such as shows and performance arts by roaming artists.

In addition, the Expo organisers have introduced strict safety measures, including increasing the number of PCR testing facilities and ensuring PCR Testing for all frontline workers at the event and entertainment employees. 

The UAE is witnessing new COVID-19 cases at slow rates in recent months. The Ministry of Health reported the highest number of COVID-19 cases on Monday since late September. On December 1, the country reported its first case of the new, highly transmissible Omicron COVID-19 variant.

Meanwhile, the UAE authorities have called on all community members to ensure compliance with safety measures and avoid over-the-top celebrations for Christmas and the New Year to limit the virus spread. Furthermore, it has restricted the entry to all government institutions to only vaccinated community members with effect from January 3 to ensure the safety of the public.
