ERC sends 2nd aid plane with COVID-19 vaccines to Damascus

The Emirates Red Crescent (ERC) sent a second aid plane consisting of essential COVID-19 vaccine doses to Damascus with the aim of helping Syrians in their fight against the pandemic.

The shipment arrived in Damascus on April 20 with the assistance of the Syrian Red Crescent Organisation. The aid was sent as part of the UAE's global humanitarian response to overcome the pandemic crisis and strengthen prevention measures in countries across the world.

The UAE is continuously working to support and assist frontline medical workers, the elderly population, people with chronic diseases, displaced people, and those living in refugee camps to combat the COVID-19 pandemic. By providing crucial vaccines, the UAE aims to assist countries in curbing Coronavirus spread and limit its negative impact.

Earlier, the ERC sent a medical aid shipment weighing 97.2 tonnes to Syria in coordination with the Syrian Red Crescent Organisation. The medical aid consisted of medical supplies, testing kits, and personal protection equipment to boost the capacities of medical professionals and frontline workers in Syria to curtail the rise of Coronavirus cases.
