DHA adds more categories to COVID-19 vaccination campaign

The Dubai Health Authority (DHA) on Tuesday announced that people aged 40 and above with valid Dubai resident visas can register to receive the COVID-19 vaccines at DHA facilities. This announcement has come in line with the directives issued by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai to safeguard all members of the community against the COVID-19 pandemic.

In addition, the Authority announced that all elderly individuals aged 60 and above with a valid resident visa issued by any emirate can register for receiving the vaccine at DHA facilities by presenting proof of residency in Dubai.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid issued a directive to adopt comprehensive measures to protect all members of the community and ensure the highest levels of health and safety in the ongoing fight against the COVID-19 virus.

At the same time, the DHA has expanded the age limits for receiving the vaccination for all sections of society. While the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine can now be administered to all people aged 16 years and above, the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine can now be given to all individuals aged 18 and above.

The DHA has also stated that GCC nationals with a valid Emirates ID can also get the vaccine at approved DHA facilities.

Speaking over the development, Dr. Farida Al Khaja, CEO of DHA’s Clinical Support Services and Nursing Sector and Chairperson of the COVID-19 Vaccination Steering Committee, said that the decision to expand the ongoing vaccination campaign was taken based on a strategic plan created by the Authority late last year. The strategic plan outlines the various phases and timelines of the vaccination campaign following the best international practices and guidelines.

Dr. Al Khaja has urged the targeted categories to book an appointment for vaccination through the DHA App or DHA Contact Centre at 800 342.

With these changes, the targeted categories include all Emirates aged 16 years and above, elderly residents aged 60 and above living in Dubai, along all Dubai residents visa holders aged 40 and above. Furthermore, valid Dubai resident visa holders with chronic diseases or people with determination aged 16 years and above, frontline professionals and key sector workers can also receive the vaccine at DHA facilities.

Frontliners and vital sector workers can receive the vaccine in accordance with the appointments made by government departments and institutions they work for.

Meanwhile, Dr. Al Khaja has underlined that DHA is making all possible efforts to simplify the vaccination procedures and ensure a safe and healthy environment at its healthcare facilities to provide the highest levels of happiness and satisfaction to every customer.
