COVID-19: UAE authorities explain AlHosn's Green Pass feature

Abu Dhabi authorities have mandated Al Hosn's Green Pass requirement for people seeking to enter the Emirate from within the UAE. Authorities have also noted that green pass on the Al Hosn app is required for entry into public places in the UAE capital. In addition, the COVID-19 safety pass is required for entry in all federal government departments along with schools, colleges and some local government entities.

Everything you need to know about the Green Pass on Al Hosn app:

How can I get the Green Pass?

As per the updated protocols, the Green Status on the Al Hosn app is activated for 14 days for fully vaccinated individuals. They are required to get a negative PCR test result performed at a healthcare facility. Unless another negative COVID-19 test result is generated, the green status will turn grey after 14 days.

Fully vaccinated individuals are required to be inoculated with a booster dose after six months from the date of their second dose in order to receive the green status. The authorities have noted that people will get a 30-day grace period to get the booster dose.

Do I need a booster dose to enter Abu Dhabi?

Yes, a booster dose is mandatory to be considered fully-vaccinated and achieve a Green Pass on the Al Hosn app. In case there is no green pass on Al Hosn app, individuals are required to present a negative PCR test result issued within 96 hours of entry in the emirate.

Why is my PCR/vaccination status not showing on AlHosn app?

The app only shows information provided by healthcare centres and government authorities. In order to correct such issues, app users must contact the concerned health centres.

I had tested positive for Covid. Why do I have a ‘red’ status despite getting a negative PCR test result after my isolation?

It is important for individuals to get two negative PCR test results conducted 24 hours apart in order to obtain a green status on the Al Hosn app after testing positive for COVID-19.

How can I book an appointment for a booster dose?

People can book their appointment for booster dose of COVID-19 vaccine by contacting DoH for Abu Dhabi; DHA for Dubai; or MoHAP for the other Emirates.

What is the process of uploading vaccine certificate issued abroad to AlHosn app?

The authorities pointed out that the process is same for both residents and visitors:

1. Before departure, visitors are required to register in the ‘Register Arrivals’ section of the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship (ICA) app.

2. After completing the form, they can upload an international vaccination certificate. App users will receive a text message that will include a link to download AlHosn app.

3. Upon arrival in Abu Dhabi, visitors will receive a unified identification number (UID) either through the ICA app/website or at the airport.

4. They will be required to download the Al Hosn app and register using the UID and phone number.
