COVID-19: Sheikh Abdullah and Iranian Foreign Minister discuss efforts to combat pandemic crisis

As the global battle against the Coronavirus pandemic continues, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, recently held discussions with his Iranian counterpart Javad Zarif on efforts to combat the spread of the virus.

As per a report by state news agency WAM, Sheikh Abdullah and Javad Zarif shared their view over a video call. The two ministers reviewed the measures taken by both countries to contain the virus transmission and stressed on the need for supporting global efforts towards the development of a viable vaccine against COVID-19.

Speaking over the development, Sheikh Abdullah laid emphasis on the need to boost international cooperation to tackle the global health crisis effectively. He further reaffirmed the UAE’s solidarity with other countries across the world in their response against the pandemic crisis.

At the same time, Sheikh Abdullah and Javad Zarif also exchanged Eid Al Adha greetings during their video conversation.

Taking to Twitter, Iran’s Foreign Minister said that he had "a very substantive, frank and friendly video conversation" with the UAE Foreign Minister on "COVID-19 as well as bilateral, regional and global situations.”

"We agreed to continue the dialog on theme of hope—especially as region faces tough challenges, and tougher choices ahead," he added.
