COVID-19 response: UAE sends additional medical supplies to Kazakhstan

The United Arab Emirates on July 15 sent a second aid plane with eight metric tonnes of medical supplies to Kazakhstan to boost the country's efforts to contain the spread of Coronavirus pandemic. This aid will reportedly provide support to approximately 8,000 medical professionals in Kazakhstan as they work on the frontline to help citizens from the COVID-19 virus.

Speaking over the humanitarian assistance, UAE Ambassador to Kazakhstan Dr. Mohammed Ahmed bin Sultan Al Jaber asserted that the UAE leadership has left no stones unturned in providing medical support and healthcare facilities to Kazakhstan and strengthen the country's capabilities to tackle the repercussions caused by the pandemic crisis. Dr Al Jaber further noted that Kazakhstan was one of the first countries across the world to receive medical assistance from the UAE in the wake of the ongoing pandemic.

In addition, Kazakhstan Ambassador to the UAE MadyarMenilekov thanked the UAE leadership for its exceptional support to the country. He further laid emphasis on the distinct and strong bilateral relations that the two countries have been shared in recent years.

"We can only overcome this crisis with cooperation and interdependence, as the UAE has demonstrated by providing humanitarian assistance to the Republic of Kazakhstan and many other countries," the Ambassador added.

To date, the UAE has provided over 1069 metric tonnes of medical aid and supplies to more than 70 countries as part of its humanitarian response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
