Multinational conglomerate Siemens and its employees in the UAE contributed Dh430,000 to Sheikh Sultan Bin Khalifa Al Nahyan Humanitarian & Scientific Foundation (SBKF) as part of a charity drive initiated by the company to support the country's efforts against the COVID-19 crisis.

Siemens and its subsidiaries including Siemens Energy, Siemens Healthineers along with their employees contributed the funds for the charity drive last month. On Wednesday, a cheque was presented by the company officials to Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, the Chairman of SBKF. Besides this, SBKF’s Chief Executive Officer Dr. Mahmoud Taleb and Managing Director at Siemens Energy Khalid Bin Hadi signed an agreement to cooperate on a collaborative program.

Responding to the development, Sheikh Zayed extended gratitude to Siemens and its employees for raising funds to help the people at such a difficult time.

“Siemens is known around the world for its contribution to society, and this generous offering is in that vein. We thank Siemens and its employees for raising these funds at such a difficult time for so many people and look forward to building on our partnership as we implement this charitable program. Through the philanthropic work of the SBKF, this contribution will have a wide-ranging and beneficial impact on societies across the Middle East,” said Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, as per the press statement issued by Siemens.

Siemens Energy Managing Director Bin Hadi also thanked the SBKF for their exceptional contribution for the welfare of the society and enhancing the fields of education and scientific research.

“We are fortunate that even in these uncertain times, we can unite in the spirit of kindness to give back to the societies in which we live and work. We are thankful for the exceptional work that the SBKF does to benefit society by improving access to medical treatment and fostering developments in education and scientific research,” said Bin Hadi.

As per the statement, Siemens and the Foundation will collaboratively decide the future prospects of the charity for supporting humanitarian projects in the region.

Siemens has made numerous contributions and donations over the years for the welfare of the society, particularly in the education and healthcare sectors, and to support significant causes in the region. Recently, the company provided medical equipment for healthcare clinics in Egypt and Iraq amid the global fight against the COVID-19 crisis.

Along with Bin Hadi, Siemens’ businesses have been represented by Ole Per Maloy, Head of Siemens Healthineers for the Middle East and Southern & Eastern Africa, and Silvia Oppus, the Head of Human Resources for Siemens in the Middle East.

As world government's worked on curbing the spread of Coronavirus across various regions, Siemens AG launched a global COVID-19 aid fund in April under the auspices of the community-serving non-profit organization Siemens Caring Hands e.V. The company contributes about €80 million every year for donations and sponsorships.
