COVID-19 response: Mohamed bin Zayed directs supply of urgent medical aid to Lebanon

The United Arab Emirates recently dispatched urgent medical aid to Lebanon to boost their efforts to fight the COVID-19 pandemic. The medical aid has been provided as a generous donation by President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, in view of the directives of Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.

The latest aid consignment consists of 12 tonnes of medical supplies including testing devices, personal hygiene and prevention tools, COVID-19 diagnostic devices, and other necessary equipment to strengthen the efforts of healthcare workers as they battle the pandemic at the forefront. As per news agency WAM, these medical supplies will support more than 10,000 medical frontline workers in performing their duties towards the public and reinforce their efforts to contain the spread of Coronavirus in the country.

Taking note of the intensity of the health crisis in Lebanon, the supply of medical aid is part of UAE's solidarity campaign and will provide assistance to Lebanese people amid the difficult times.

So far, the UAE has supplied nearly 1,250 tonnes of essential medical aid to more than 90 countries as part of their humanitarian response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The medical aid has supported more than 1.2 million health workers across these countries to fight Coronavirus at the frontline.
