Abu Dhabi updates 'Green List' for travel amid COVID-19

Abu Dhabi recently added more destinations to its "Green List" as per an announcement made by the Department of Culture and Tourism.

With this development, passengers arriving from Saudi Arabia, Kazakhstan, and Morocco have been exempted from mandatory quarantine protocols after they arrive in the UAE capital. Now, they will only be required to take a PCR test on arrival at the Abu Dhabi Airport.

Other countries included in Abu Dhabi's Green List include Australia, Bhutan, Brunei, China, Greenland, Hong Kong (SAR), Iceland, Mauritius, New Zealand, and Singapore.

The 'Green List' was introduced by the Abu Dhabi authorities to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus in the emirate.

The DCT Abu Dhabi Monday issued a statement, noting that these countries have been included in the list with subject to strict criteria of health and safety to ensure the health and well-being of the UAE community. It added that the list only applies to countries passengers are arriving from rather than citizenship.

Even as Abu Dhabi reopened its borders for domestic and international passengers in December 2020, strict Coronavirus-related preventative measures continue to remain in place for people to enter the emirate. Passengers from neighboring Dubai, wherefrom the UAE capital derives most of its tourists, are also required to follow strict precautionary measures to curb the spread of the virus.

Meanwhile, healthcare authorities are carrying out intensive efforts to vaccinate every member of the community against COVID-19 as part of the UAE's nationwide vaccination campaign.
