Abu Dhabi's Hope Consortium to host a discussion on vaccine distribution plan

Despite many countries launching their vaccine programs to inoculate most of their population, the concerns about the vaccine's intuition to the most troubled countries of the world still seem to linger around.

For this very reason, Abu Dhabi’s Hope Consortium will be organizing a summit, which will aim at a distribution plan and administration of vaccines to address the concerns of coronavirus pandemics. It will be a virtual event scheduled for March 29 and March 30 and the event will host speakers from the World Health Organization and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

From WHO, the director-general of the organization Dr. Tedros Adhanom Gheberyesus will be delivering one of the main speeches, and other than him, Stanley Erck, who is the president and the chief executive drug maker Novavax, will also be present in the panel. Nvavax is looking to get its vaccine approved by the United States.

The organizers assured that they will be properly taking care of the whole event which will see the experts talk about key challenges in the vaccine distribution program. “The delegates will tackle key logistical and technological challenges facing global supply chains and associated emerging trends – including the rise of vaccine nationalism – to ensure equitable and rapid delivery of the life-saving vaccines at this critical juncture facing the health, well-being, and prosperity of all humankind,” stressed the organizers.

The event will reportedly have more than 1,000 attendees from governments, NGOs, pharmaceuticals along with the key players from the global supply chain sector and other academic leaders. The Hope Consortium in Abu Dhabi will be hosting the event. The consortium is the same place that includes the UAE national airline Etihad.

The chairman of the consortium’s executive committee Mohammed Al Hammadi said that as the pandemic completes its one year, it is extremely essential that a forum for discussing logistical ways to distribute the vaccines are opened. We should come up with scalable, sustainable, and equitable vaccine distribution solutions to distribute the vaccines, he added.
